FULL COLD MOON WALK
FULL MOON WALK! ALL WELCOME!
DECEMBER 14, 2024 3:00 - 5:00 PM
RIVER TO RIDGE TRAIL, NEW PALTZ, NY
It is that Time of year when we hear of the need for rest and rooting down, for slowness of life, contemplation, and finding the inner light... meanwhile, the daily schedule and weekend activities, obligations and invitations begin to rise to fever pitch... and before we know it, Santa and his elves have turned our homes into humming hives of overwhelm....
No! That's not gonna happen this year, friends. This year we will build moments into our days to truly herald in the light... "Sorry, I can't make it..." because I have scheduled a warm bath and cup of chamomile tea for that evening. Hold steady, friends. The darkness comes in all forms these days.
For the upcoming FULL COLD MOON, I invite you on a walk through my most favorite farmland in Ulster County. Brook Farm is a part of the Mohonk Preserve and is home to many of our beloved native (and invasive) medicinal plants. They are slumbering now and perhaps will inspire our own paths of rest and slumber for winter. I will point out some of the plants along our walk and suggest a remedy for this busy season, but this is more an opportunity to simply get out of the house and move the blood to help us sleep through the full moon nights!
All are welcome! This is a 5 mile walk! But it is possible to join for a short portion in an area where there are benches for resting - just let me know if this is of interest. There is also plenty of land and trail for heading off on your own if you seek some solitude...
This gathering is FREE!
Please write: songoftheridge@gmail.com to join the walk and let me know how many will be in your party.

FULL MOON MAMA GATHERING
FULL MOON MAMA GATHERING
PLANT WALK & MEDICINE MAKING
OCTOBER 17, 2024 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
ACORN WALDORF SCHOOL*
In this gathering, we will go on a short plant walk and learn about some of our local native and invasive plants that may be used for everyday medicine, with a focus on roots that are ready for harvest and remedies that support our transition into fall and winter.
This gathering invites both mothers with babies and little ones and also mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and aunties of all generations who are looking to come together in community. These are tough times for many and this circle offers respite with a focus on the tradition of self healing through work with local plants.
After our plant walk we will gather in a yurt classroom for a nourishing herbal infusion, demonstration on how to make a root tincture, with time for questions and conversation.
This gathering is offered by donation to the growing Song of the Ridge community apothecary. You may sign up by emailing: songoftheridge@gmail.com and more details will be provided.
*Location:
Acorn Waldorf School has kindly opened their land and a yurt classroom to us. School will be in session, so we will quietly walk the land in respect to the students and teachers and other wild creatures.
