GOOD BYE GOLDENROD PLANT WALK
FOR ADULTS & CHILDREN
OCTOBER 2, 2025 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
PINE ROAD, NEW PALTZ, NY
Oh... my heart is breaking into a million pieces to watch our sun slip behind the trees at half past five!
I don’t want to cause mass panic, but it’s officially fall now and many of our above ground plant friends are going away… last week I drove the roads extra slowly as the squirrels were running to and fro with their nuts, heedless of the danger coming at them.
I too am making my last harvests and saying good bye, or at least "see you next spring", to some of my favorite living creatures. Can you think back to those hot days of early July? That's when the goldenrod first appeared by the wayside and I shivered as it was the beginning of the end, already. But the goldenrod is still here! I am hearing the call to visit our friends, the goldenrod and purple aster, muggy and more...
Please join me for an autumnal walk on the Mohonk Preserve just outside of New Paltz. We'll walk one mile in to a wilder spot where the children can roam a bit and folks can have a snack while we hang out with some of our local medicinals.
This workshop is intended for both adults and children (with caregivers). It is for those who are interested in learning about the medicinal uses of our local plants and seeking to spend more time in nature.
Please bring your own water, snacks, and comfy shoes.
This workshop is free! Sign up for parking and other details by sending an email to songoftheridge@gmail.com or texting the old witch her self.
